Teaching Pay

$15–$50/hour

Build lasting student relationships, develop your teaching skills, and grow your earning opportunities.

1

Start with a New Student

Every new 1-on-1 student begins with a first-session teaching rate of $15/hour.

$15/hour
Example: A first 1-hour Python lesson earns $15.
2

Keep Students Learning With You — Through Our Structured Curriculum

The clearest measure of your teaching is simple: do students and parents want to keep learning with you? Every renewal is a vote of confidence. More renewals mean more teaching opportunities, eligibility for higher hourly pay, and stronger PROVE of your teaching quality.

Same teacher + same student + confirmed renewal

Renewal-based increases are tied to the same teacher–student–course relationship. The eligible rate and effective date are confirmed for each assignment; a renewal does not change your rate for other students.

3

Teach Higher-Level Courses — Higher Pay

Build the skills and qualifications to teach more advanced subjects. After a successful renewal with the same student, eligible higher-level courses can offer higher 1-on-1 teaching rates, subject to confirmation for that student and course.

Example CourseIllustrative 1-on-1 Teaching Rate
Python$15/hr
Java$17.50/hr
Data Structures & Algorithms$20/hr
AMC Competition Preparation$22.50/hr
USACO Competition Preparation$25/hr

These are examples of a possible growth path, not guaranteed course-specific rates. Your actual teaching rate is confirmed for each assignment. At $25/hr, a 16-hour course earns $400.

4

Teach Group Classes — Higher Pay

Group teaching requires stronger classroom management, teaching ability, and experience. Teachers must be approved for group assignments. Pay increases with the number of students taught together.

Students in ClassTeacher Hourly Rate
1–2 students$15/hr
3–4 students$20/hr
5–6 students$30/hr
7 or more students$50/hr

Group rates may be adjusted if tuition changes; any adjustment will be confirmed in advance.

5

Become a Mentor — Extra Pay

Go beyond weekly lessons and help students plan their future. Mentors may guide long-term projects, portfolios, extracurricular activities, and CEP college applications—including school planning, application strategy, personal stories, and essay development, as appropriate to their qualifications. Mentorship is an additional paid opportunity, with its scope and compensation agreed before the assignment begins.

Example of workload, not a quoted rate: A college-planning mentorship might include 4 planning or essay sessions + 2 progress reviews. Your scope, hours, and compensation are agreed before the assignment begins.
6

Create New Courses — Set Your Own Teaching Rate

Propose an in-demand course, develop a syllabus and sample lesson, and work with our team to launch it. Propose your own teaching rate along with your course plan. The program team reviews and agrees on the rate and tuition before the course is offered.

Example: Propose a 16-hour AI Game Design course, including learning goals, 16 lesson outlines, and a final project. Tuition and teacher pay are reviewed and approved before launch.
7

Become a Sought-After Teacher — Ask for a Premium Rate

Consistent student satisfaction, strong renewals, and a full teaching schedule can make your time especially valuable. If demand for your teaching exceeds your availability, you can request a premium teaching rate. The program team can review a higher tuition option with families before any rate change takes effect.

Illustrative premium tuition: A course normally priced at $25/hr could be offered at $35/hr for a high-demand teacher, with parent agreement and an individually approved teacher rate. The higher tuition does not automatically mean a particular pay increase.
8

Build Your PROVE

Document what you have actually done: teaching hours, students taught, renewals, parent feedback, student projects, mentoring, and new courses. PROVE helps demonstrate your experience and supports future opportunities.

Example of verifiable evidence: 120 teaching hours · 5 students · 3 confirmed renewals · 2 student projects. These are sample metrics, not a guarantee of a pay raise; PROVE strengthens your record for matching, teaching growth, and career opportunities. Explore Daniel’s example PROVE →
Important: The group class schedule and first-session rate are presented as current policy. Higher-level course rates shown above illustrate earning potential rather than a fixed course-by-course pay schedule. Renewal amounts, mentorship pay, course-development pay, and premium tuition examples require individual confirmation—not automatic promises. Your actual rate must be confirmed for each assignment.

Teaching Payment Information

  1. Class reports determine monthly pay. Complete each student’s class report after every class.
  2. Absent students may still count toward group class size. If a student remains enrolled and tuition is paid, include them in the class-size calculation and submit their attendance report, even when absent.
  3. 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. Parents may change teachers, change classes, or cancel for a refund if dissatisfied. The office will adjust class reports and payment calculations as needed, including removing absent students for classes for which tuition was not paid. Read the guarantee policy →
  4. Tryout classes. A tryout class is paid if the student continues after the tryout; it is not paid if the student does not continue. The office will adjust the payment calculation accordingly.
  5. If no student arrives: submit class attendance at the scheduled start time so parents are notified, and immediately contact the Office by DM to MikeL#3966 on Discord. The office will attempt to reach the family. If no student arrives within 10 minutes, you may end the class. No-student classes are unpaid.
  6. Questions about your payment? Request a Pay Sub if you need an explanation of your monthly payment or believe there is a discrepancy.
  7. Payroll contact: office@aigolearning.org.

Thank you, and happy teaching!
