Your Teaching Journey

Welcome, there. Follow your path from preparing to teach and receiving a class opportunity to your first tryout, ongoing classes, and renewal. Along the way, we help you grow and turn your teaching experience into verified PROVE.

Stage 1

Before You Have a Class

Focus on readiness and visibility. You do not need a detailed schedule, tax form, or payment information yet.

How do I get a class?

Three Ways to Receive a Teaching Opportunity

We do not place you into a class without your agreement. We identify a possible match, share the details, and invite you to accept.

1

We Match You

Operations may match you based on subjects, experience, teaching level, location, and student needs. You review the details and decide whether to accept.

2

Parents Choose You

Parents may request you after reviewing Teacher Profiles. A strong photo, introduction, video, evidence, and course list make your strengths clear.

3

You Choose an Opportunity

Opportunities may be posted in Discord. Express interest when a course fits your background and goals.

Expressing interest does not confirm the class. Wait for Operations to approve the match before contacting the family, promising a schedule, or preparing to teach.

How We Communicate

When a matching class is available, we’ll contact you by Discord DM. Keep DMs enabled, check messages regularly, and reply promptly to let us know if you can take the class.

Stage 2

After You Receive a Class Opportunity

You will receive the important facts before accepting. Worker and payment documents come only after the opportunity is accepted.

Your first class

How the Tryout Works

The goal is not to cover the most content. Understand the student, create a successful learning experience, and identify the right next step.

Before

Prepare

  • Review the student and course information
  • Study the curriculum or suggested lesson
  • Test the Thinkland Live Room
  • Prepare an engaging first lesson
  • Contact Operations if anything is unclear
During

Connect and Teach

  • Understand the student’s current level
  • Build trust and rapport
  • Explain one or two ideas clearly
  • Let the student participate and create
  • Identify the appropriate next step
  • Give the family confidence in the fit
After

Record and Recommend

  • Submit attendance
  • Write a brief class note
  • Describe level and engagement
  • Recommend a course or learning plan
  • Wait for continuation confirmation
Important: A tryout is not a recurring class until the parent confirms enrollment and Operations confirms the continuing schedule. For a paid opportunity, a completed tryout is paid at the confirmed rate whether or not the parent continues.

After the tryout

When the Family Continues

Operations activates the class. Your job is to teach consistently and make progress visible.

Teacher Responsibilities

  • Follow and adapt the learning plan
  • Prepare and arrive on time
  • Record attendance and class notes
  • Assign or review homework when appropriate
  • Track progress and report concerns early
  • Recommend the next step near the end

Operations Support

  • Confirm the recurring schedule
  • Support parent communication
  • Coordinate schedule and class changes
  • Handle payment, enrollment, and records
  • Help resolve operational concerns
  • Confirm renewal arrangements
Please involve Operations. Teachers should not independently promise a schedule, price, discount, refund, course package, makeup policy, or special arrangement.

How Renewal Works

Teachers take the main role and responsibility for renewal. Before the current level ends, encourage the student to continue, explain what comes next, and work with the student and parents to confirm the recurring schedule. Then inform Operations so the team can set up the new class and handle enrollment and payment.

Teacher Leads Renewal

  • Start the renewal conversation before the current level ends
  • Summarize progress and recommend the next level or course
  • Explain what the student will learn and why it is interesting and important
  • Encourage the student to continue their learning journey
  • Communicate directly with parents about the next step
  • Do your best to confirm the recurring schedule with the student and parents
  • Send the agreed schedule and next course to Operations; ask for help if anything remains unresolved

Operations Support

  • Assist parent communication if needed
  • Set up the new class in the system
  • Handle payment, enrollment, and records
  • Confirm renewal arrangements
Why renewal matters: Renewal is strong evidence that the student and parent valued the learning experience. It is an important teaching outcome and part of your Teaching Evidence, but it is not the only measure of teacher quality.
